What goes wrong at a party in Soest, and how I handle it

Parties in Soest

At a venue in the countryside around Soest the curfew almost always sets the pace. If the last dance is planned for half past midnight and the lights come on at one, the peak of the evening has to fall earlier than it would at a venue in town. Access and set-up

Soest is reached from Amersfoort via the N221 and the Birkstraat, Soesterberg via the N237. The drive normally takes me a quarter of an hour, even on a Saturday evening. That leaves me time to set up well before the doors open and to run a proper soundcheck with the room still empty.

What I pay extra attention to in Soest

One practical point that comes up in Soest more often than elsewhere: venues with a thatched or timber roof and a lot of glass ring more than you would expect. I place the speakers lower and closer to the dance floor and keep the bass tight, so the speaker stays intelligible and the room does not ring along.
